Privacy Statement
PRIVACY POLICY
I. General provisions
1. This Privacy Policy applies to the personal data of users of the IPN Journals Platform, operating at https://czasopisma.ipn.gov.pl/zwanej, hereinafter referred to as the "Platform".
2. The Administrator of the personal data is the President of the Institute of National Remembrance - Commission for the Prosecution of Crimes against the Polish Nation with its seat in Warsaw, ul. Janusz Kurtyki 1, 02-676 Warsaw, hereinafter referred to as the "Administrator".
3. The processing of personal data will be carried out in accordance with the requirements of generally applicable legal provisions of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 April 2016 on the protection of natural persons in relation to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data and repealing Directive 95/46/EC, hereinafter referred to as "RODO".
II. Purpose, scope and duration of the processing of personal data
1. Personal data of users of the Platform will be processed to the extent and for the purpose necessary for the efficient functioning of the scientific electronic journals, and in particular for:
a. Efficient communication in the editorial process;
b. editing content;
c. to create internal reports and analyses (including statistics on sub-page views, publication readership);
d. to send, with the users' consent, notifications and information concerning the magazine;
e. possibly charge for access to the publication;
f. inform readers of the authorship of texts published on the Platform;
g. indexing of published texts and data in databases, catalogues and services, in accordance with the journals' publishing policies.
2. Users registered on the Platform may provide the Administrator with the following data (* indicates mandatory data):

- Login*
- Gender
- Password (encrypted)*
- Email*
- ORCiD ID
- Website
- Country*
- Phone
- Fax
- Affiliation
- Biography
- Date of registration
- Last date logged in
- Location
- Research interests
- Function (role) on the Platform
3. In the event of the launch of the sale of electronic versions of publications on the Platform, those interested in using this service may provide the Administrator with additional data concerning the choice of payment channel and bank account number.
4. The provision of personal data is:
5. voluntary in the case of use of the content of open access journals deposited on the platform
6. necessary if you wish to participate in the electronic publishing process, including:
- depositing texts for publication with authors' rights,
- performing the following functions: editor, section editor, technical editor, reviewer, DTP specialist, indexer, proofreader, journal manager, subscription manager, marketing manager,
- creation of an account with the rights of a reader in order to be informed by the publishing house and the editorial office about newly published issues and articles.
5. Personal data of participants in the electronic editorial process, including authors of publications, editors, reviewers, will be processed for scientific and statistical purposes in accordance with Article 89 of the DPA for the entire period the electronic versions of the journal are available. The scientific purpose is considered to be the archiving of articles and metadata, their sharing, indexing and submission for indexing in scientific databases, catalogues and services.
6. Personal data of potential authors whose texts have not been accepted for publication may be deleted by the administrator 2 years after the editorial decision not to publish.
7. The personal data of users with reading rights may be deleted by the Administrator at any time following a request by the user.
III. Users' rights
1. Every User registered on the Platform has the rights set out in Articles 15-21 RODO, which may be exercised subject to the conditions set out in the said provisions:
a. The right of access to data,
b. The right to rectification of the data,
c. The right to be forgotten,
d. The right to restrict processing,
e. The right to data portability,
f. The right to object.
2. The user has the right to edit his/her account and change the data previously provided, with the exception of the system login. From the application, he may withdraw his consent to receive information from the publisher and editors of periodicals hosted on the Platform at any time.
3. The rights referred to in section III.1 are exercised after prior notification to the Administrator by e-mail at the address of the Privacy Officer Danych: inspektorochronydanych@ipn.gov.pl.
IV. Administrator's rights
1. The Administrator reserves the right to process Users' data after the withdrawal of consent only for the purposes of judicial redress or if national or EU regulations or international law oblige him to retain the data.
2. The Administrator has the right to make User data and other User data available to authorised entities, on the basis of relevant legal regulations.
3. The Administrator may use the services of other processors on the basis of the written consent given to them and the conditions set out in Article 28 RODO.
4. Data may be transferred to:
a. processors in connection with the outsourced administration and support services of the Platform;
b. publishers of analytics systems Google Analytics; AddThis; PlumX Metrics
c. Publishers of index databases and directories;
d. Entities or authorities authorised by law.
V. Security of personal data
The platform is encrypted using SSL (Secure Socket Layer). User passwords are encrypted.
VI. Cookies
The platform uses cookies to identify the visitor's browser. Thanks to the collected information, the Administrator wants to gain knowledge about the frequency of visits to the Platform and identify its most interesting elements. The data obtained will allow the Administrator to better adapt the Platform to the needs of users, to improve its functioning and for statistical purposes. These files cannot be used to infect the device with viruses or other malware.
