Dear All,
We kindly inform you that the editorial office of the scientific journal “Polish-Jewish Studies” has issued a call for papers for the sixth volume.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the entry into force of the decree of the Polish Committee of National Liberation of 31 August 1944 (“on the punishment of fascist and Nazi criminals guilty of murder and persecution of civilians and prisoners of war, as well as on the punishment of the traitors of the Polish nation”). The main theme of the sixth issue will be the topic of negative acts committed against the Jewish population during World War II and their post-war settlement before the law enforcement and justice authorities of “people’s” Poland and other European countries. The scale of post-war settlements in individual countries, including their specificity, is an interesting subject for research. We would like to show how these issues were described in historiography, how they were presented in culture (e.g. literature, film), and what the politics of remembrance and commemoration of crimes looked like in a comparative context. Case studies will be an important complement to these issues.
