Information about the 2027 issue of the Institute of National Remembrance Review (deadline for submitting articles: December 2026)
The issue of the Institute of National Remembrance Review scheduled for publication in 2027 will focus on the Warsaw Pact and the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.
The editorial board expects submissions of papers concerning the structures and functioning of the Warsaw Pact and the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance, as the pillars of Soviet dominance in the Central and Eastern Europe. The editorial board would like to gather papers focusing on both organizations as the Soviet power institutions, their structure, formal and informal competences and functioning, as well as its impact on the internal relations in the Soviet Bloc states, and reviews of the recent research in the field.
Proposed thematic areas:
– political bodies of the Warsaw Pact (Political Advisory Committee, Defense Ministers Council);
– structures of the Warsaw Pact United Armed Forces Command;
– relationship between the Warsaw Pact and Soviet armed forces;
– place, role and tasks of the Soviet Bloc states’ armed forces in the Warsaw Pact;
– Warsaw Pact war plans and exercises;
– deployment of the Soviet armed forces in Europe;
– position of Romania in the Warsaw Pact;
– position of Albania in the Warsaw Pact;
– selected case studies on the Warsaw Pact;
– political and governing bodies of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance;
– structures and activities of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance;
– relationship between the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance policy and Soviet economy;
– impact of the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance policy on the domestic economies of the Soviet Bloc states;
– selected case studies on the Council for Mutual Economic Assistance.
The editorial board will accept texts that have not been published before in English and contain a new, original approach to the topic, or summarize the recent research on the theme.
INRR publishes in English only. The text volume limit is 40 thousand characters (approximately 8 thousand words) (with bibliography, abstract and keywords).
Submitted articles should contain:
– Author’s affiliation;
– Author’s ORCID (or other authors academic ID, like Web of Science Researcher ID, Scopus Author ID, Google Scholar link);
– abstract;
– list of keywords (terms mentioned in abstract);
– bibliography in Chicago Manual of Style standard;
– funding disclosure (if applies);
– information about original published version (if applies).
