About

The Institute of National Remembrance Review (INRR) is a peer-reviewed journal published by the Polish Institute of National Remembrance (Instytut Pamięci Narodowej, IPN).

The INRR is included in the European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences (ERIH PLUS), Library of Science repository, Central European Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (CEJSH) index, Index Copernicus Journals Master List, and in Polska Bibliografia Naukowa.

The INRR is enclosed in the list of academic periodicals published by Polish Ministry of Education and Science (identifier 501842) within the research branches 'History', "Security Sciences", and "Law and Administration Sciences". The number of research evaluation points allocated to the single publication in the INRR is 40.

We wish to acquire papers of intrinsic factual depth: newly-written as much as possible, or at least not previously published in English. The other part of the periodical will consist of presentations of remembrance institutions and overviews of recent historical publications edited in CEE native languages (and therefore not available to English speakers).

The INRR publishes its papers in English.

The general guidelines, required declarations and information on the peer review policy are available in the 'Submissions' section.

The periodical does not charge authors with any fee.

The potential authors should contact the Editorial Board via email inrr@ipn.gov.pl .

Aim and Scope

The INRR focuses on the recent history of Poland and Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), and these nations’ experiences of dictatorship and war, as well as the similarities and differences between the mechanisms of dictatorial rule in CEE prior to 1990, described from multiple points of view. Our main aim is to contribute to a better understanding of the CEE countries’ histories, to explain the background of their modern features, and to counter the stereotypes and misjudgements arising from distorted historical messages. Although mainly historical, the periodical encourages an interdisciplinary approach to the themes discussed. The forthcoming issues of the periodical will be prepared as thematic volumes, concerning sets of topics focused on specific phenomena or events.
